Will try to leave by 6:10 but will leave no later than 6:15 so try to get there around 5:50 p.m.

The "Booty Loop" is a 2.9 mile loop that encompasses parts of Selwyn, Queens Road West, and Hopedale. This is one of the safest places to learn how to road cycle in Mecklenburg County.  The roads are wide and most motorists know to look out for cyclists. You can bring a road bike, mountain bike, or hybrid bike.

This can be as hard or easy as you want it. And you can do whatever number of laps you want to do. If you plan on cycling later than 7:30 p.m. please bring a flashing red light to put on the tail of your bike or your clothing. You will also need to bring a helmet. Mecklenburg county doesn`t require one for an adult, but I will disown you from the group if you don`t have one.

For anyone new to the course, please identify yourself and I will ride at least two loops with you so that you can be comfortable with the route. I will be driving a gun metal gray Honda Element with a Marine Corps sticker on the back window.

This is Meckelburg`s rules pertaining to cycling after dusk -

Ride a bicycle on any road between thirty (30) minutes after sunset and thirty
(30) minutes before sunrise without an attached headlight plainly visible at least
two hundred (200) feet from the front, and with a red tail light or red reflector
plainly visible from at least one hundred (100) feet from the rear of such bicycle.
